Former Kellogg Foundation program officer honored for achievements in oral health and education

WASHINGTON, D.C.–The ADEAGies Foundation’s William J. Gies awards for vision, innovation, and achievement were presented Saturday, February 27, 2010.  Barbara J. Sabol, MA, who recently retired as a program officer with the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, received the Outstanding Vision Award. This award honors her dedication to the highest standards and achievement in oral health, dental education, research and leadership.  Ms. Sabol was a program officer with the W.K. Kellogg Foundation from 1997 to 2009, where she reviewed and recommended proposals for funding, managed and monitored a portfolio of active grants, and designed national initiatives and multi-year projects.

Named after William J. Gies, a pioneer in dental education, the Gies Awards recognize contributions to and support of global oral health and education initiatives. This year’s ceremony was held in conjunction with the 2010 ADEA Annual Session and Exhibition February 27th through March 3rd.

Dr. Gail C. Christopher, vice president for programs at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation presented Ms. Sabol with the prestigious statue during the awards ceremony held in Washington, D.C.
