Jennifer Wilkins Named to American Dietetic Association’s (ADA) Sustainable Food Supply Task Force

Food and Society Policy Fellow increases awareness about sustainability issues among dietetic professionals


Jennifer Wilkins has been appointed to the American Dietetic Association’s (ADA) Sustainable Food Supply Task Force, created in response to the ADA’s need to define the role of members as it relates to food and nutrition practice and increase awareness among dietetic professionals about sustainability issues. The plan will include:1) A definition of sustainability as it pertains to “sustainable practices” and “sustainable food systems”; 2) Educational opportunities for members via existing communications venues about current food systems and the relationship between sustainable food systems and support of local markets; 3) Opportunities to promote partnerships and collaboration with local and state agencies and organizations; 4) Opportunities to encourage ADA members to assume leadership roles in the area of sustainable food systems.
