Session Description: What is racial healing? This conversation between NBC News correspondent Yamiche Alcindor and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation’s La June Montgomery Tabron highlights the growing impact of racial healing and explores how this practice is at the heart of our journey to racial equity. We’ll candidly discuss recent headlines – the killing of George Floyd and the energy it mobilized, the rise in hate crimes and the horrific act of racialized violence in Buffalo – to speak truth about past harms created by individual and systemic racism and to address their present-day consequences.

Join us as we explore what’s happening across the country to advance racial equity through racial healing, replace destructive belief systems that fuel racism and transform societal structures in ones that affirm the inherent value of all people.

Attending the Festival in-person? Transforming communities into more equitable places of opportunity begins with each of us. Learn how conversations that nurture relationships, create trust and promote authentic truth-telling are steps you can take toward achieving solidarity and building racial equity. Visit the W.K. Kellogg Foundation’s Racial Healing Center in the Marble Garden during the Aspen Ideas Festival to rest and recharge, share your hopes for racial healing, commit an act of solidarity, design an equitable future with a live muralist, and sign up to experience one-on-one and small-group racial-healing conversations. You’ll leave Aspen with an action plan to start your own racial healing journey.
