Alaska’s first dental therapists receive 2011 National Impact Award

Eight of Alaska’s first dental therapists were honored at the 2011 National Indian Health Board’s (NIHB) Annual Consumer conference in Anchorage, Alaska. The national impact award recognizes the dental therapists for their selfless dedication to advancing the health of people, and their commitment and hard work as ambassadors of a healthy Alaska. Delivering oral health services to Alaska tribes for the past six years, these dental therapists help improve oral health across the state. Today, 35,000 people in Alaska are now receiving dental care as a result of adding dental therapists to a dentist-led team.
