Kellogg Foundation names director of communications

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The W.K. Kellogg Foundation announces the appointment of Nicole G. de Beaufort as Director of Communications. She joined the staff Sept. 7, reporting to Joanne Krell, vice president for Communications. In her new role, Ms. De Beaufort will serve as day-to-day lead for implementing domestic and international internal and external communication efforts, including public affairs, media relations and electronic media, to strengthen and support the Foundation’s mission.

“Nicole de Beaufort is an experienced and respected communications professional and we are delighted she is joining the W.K. Kellogg Foundation’s team,” said Krell. “Nicole will no doubt bring her finely tuned lens of social impact communications to help advance the Kellogg Foundation’s work to improve conditions for vulnerable children.”

Ms. de Beaufort was most recently the president of Fourth Sector Consulting Inc., in Minneapolis, Minn., a strategic communications firm she founded in 2007 to help leading organizations communicate about sustainability, agriculture, food systems and other complex systemic issues. Other prior positions include vice president for Headwaters Philanthropic Services, LLC; senior account supervisor for Vanguard Communications; media analyst for ProMarc Agency; account executive for Matthews Media Group; and special assistant to trustee for the Barr Charitable Trust. She holds a bachelor’s degree in anthropology/sociology from Williams College.

The W.K. Kellogg Foundation, established in 1930, supports children, families and communities as they strengthen and create conditions that propel vulnerable children to achieve success as individuals and as contributors to the larger community and society. Grants are concentrated in the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean, and southern Africa.
