Connecting Oregon for Rural Entrepreneurship (CORE) was featured in the story, “Entrepreneurship championed in Lincoln County,” in the February 23, 2007, issue of the Newport News-Times of Newport, Oregon. In the article CORE local project manager, Justin Overdevest, noted that CORE is already having a positive impact in encouraging local entrepreneurship: “So far results have been amazing,” Overdevest said, “I didn’t think you would see such an impact in such a short period of time. These monies injected into small businesses and organizations have been phenomenal, there is a sea change, even though it isn’t a lot of money.” A $2 million W.K. Kellogg Foundation 75th Anniversary Entrepreneurship Development Systems (EDS) grant is being utilized by CORE initiatives in five areas of Oregon, including the Lincoln County area featured in the News-Times story.
