New National Organic Standards Board Members Named

Tracy Miedema, national sales manager of Stahlbush Island Farms of Corvallis, Oregon, was one of four new members appointed by USDA to the National Organic Standards Board. Stahlbush Island Farms is a Food Alliance certified producer. Food Alliance certified farms and ranches produce food using environmentally friendly and socially responsible agricultural practices. Other NOSB members appointed were Tina Ellor, technical director of Phillips Mushroom Farms in Pennsylvania; Steve DeMuri, senior manager for commercialization and improvement for Campbell Soup Company in California, and the technical expert and manager of Campbell’s organic production; and Katrina Heinze, manager of global regulatory affairs for General Mills, where she is responsible for food safety and regulatory matters. These new members’ five-year terms begin January 24, 2007.
