Rural Development Initiatives (RDI) has launched a new program to help 10 Oregon communities combat poverty. The Listen, Envision and Act to end Poverty (LEAP) initiative will give these communities technical assistance and training in ways to increase prosperity. The LEAP program consists of four stages: recruiting and building a diverse working group; initiating conversation and action against poverty through talking circles; developing a plan of action through a community vision rally; and finally, implementing the ideas drawn from the talking circles and vision rally. RDI is convener for 28 Oregon partner organizations in the Connecting Oregon for Rural Entrepreneurship Collaborative (CORE). CORE was awarded a 75th Anniversary Entrepreneurship Development Systems grant in 2005 from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. To learn more about RDI visit www.rdiinc.org.
