Poster Contest Inspires Consumers to Buy Food from Local Farmers

Artists from across Maine were challenged by the Western Mountains Alliance to create a simple, iconic image that would convey the importance of supporting local agriculture. The response was tremendous with 27 artists entering posters, which were exhibited in the Maine State House as part of Maine Agriculture Day in April 2006, following previous shows in Farmington and Skowhegan, Maine. Western Maine Alliance plans to exhibit the posters around Maine for the next year so their energy can inspire people to support local farmers when buying food for their families or large institutions. The winning poster may be viewed on http://www.westernmountainsalliance.org/html/news.html#Artists.
