Gov. Jennifer Granholm on Tuesday announced the creation of a panel aimed at boosting Michigan’s food sector. The Michigan Food Policy Council will make recommendations to increase economic development opportunities while promoting agricultural production and public health. The council will also help promote Michigan-grown foods and help identify ways to get more of it to food outlets. The work of the Michigan Food Policy Council will be funded primarily by a grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
