The W.K. Kellogg Foundation presented its first National Leadership in Action Awards on Monday, April 11, 2005. The awards ceremony, held during the Council on Foundation’s annual meeting in San Diego, California, recognized five outstanding philanthropic and nonprofit organizations from across the United States. The winners were chosen for their innovative approaches to connecting resources of time, money and know-how to the philanthropic work of communities of color. Each winning organization received a $50,000 grant, along with a commissioned award piece that honors exemplary leadership in action throughout the philanthropic and nonprofit sectors.
