National Commission Urges Linking of Scholarship and Communities

(February 28, 2005) Community-Campus Partnerships for Health (CCPH), with funding from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, is leading the effort to create more supportive culture and reward systems for health professional faculty of community-engaged scholarship in which faculty connect their scholarship with community needs and concerns. As one of it’s objectives, CCPH convened a commission to study the significant gap between the promise of health professional schools as engaged institutions and the reality of how faculty members are typically judged and rewarded. The report, Linking Scholarship and Communities, offers recommendations from the Commission on closing this gap.
