Brazilian Volunteer NGO Visits UN Program

Natal Volunteers, an NGO supported by the Kellogg Foundation in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, in northeastern Brazil, was invited to present its work at the head office of the UN Volunteer Program, in Germany. The presentation was given September by the president of Natal Volunteers, Mônica MacDowell, prompting the opening of a communication channel with similar programs from other countries. According to MacDowell, UN recognition has also helped the NGO seal a partnership with the State Education Department, which in 2005 will create the Student Volunteer Certificate and the Youth Protagonism Award in Rio Grande do Norte.
