Funding Available from the Office of Community Services (HHS)

The Office of Community Services (OCS) within the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released a funding announcement on the availability of FY 2004 Discretionary Grants under the Community Food and Nutrition Program (CFNP).  The funding announcement can be found in the Federal Register for Monday, April 5, 2004, Volume 69, Number 65.  The receipt deadline for applications is 4:30pm EDT on June 4.

The main objective of the CFNP is to link low-income people to food and nutrition programs.  The OCS views CFNP as a capacity-building program rather than a food delivery program.

The Community Nutrition Institute (CNI) offers technical assistance throughout the application process.  Our website, http://www.communitynutrition.org, provides links directly to the funding announcement in both PDF and TEXT format, summaries of previously funded CFNP projects, and our CFNP Report newsletter.  Coming soon will be tips on preparing a CFNP application, an analysis comparing this year’s RFA to last year’s, and other CFNP-related updates and news.
