The Arkansas Farm Community Alliance will host a celebration of Arkansas foods on June 2nd at 6:30 p.m. at the Little Rock River Market Tower Plaza. The celebration will feature Kathy Webb of Lilly’s Dim Sum and Then Some who will be cooking an all Arkansas fried rice for the main dish. Farmers from around the state will prepare the side dishes for the meal with products raised on their farms. The celebration will also feature live Music and a short talk by Robert Waldrop of the Oklahoma Food Cooperative, an organization that connects Oklahoma customers with local farmers. The proceeds from the event will go to the Arkansas Regional Food Network and the Arkansas Rice Depot. The Arkansas Regional Food Network, which will be launched in August, will be a network through which local customers can buy their food directly from Arkansas farms. The Arkansas Regional Food Network seeks to connect food with place, farms with tables, and customers with producers. Through these connections the network hopes to foster a sustainable local economy that will benefit all who participate.
