Education Conference Held in Bolivia

The 1st Education Conference for Southern Oruro and the Intersalar Area of Bolivia was held August 11-16, 2003. The event was organized by the Study Center for the Development of Andean People (Cedpan), in partnership with Fundasen (Fundación Senda Nueva) and the local town council. One of the most discussed projects was one supported by the Kellogg Foundation.


The aim of the conference was to improve the standard of education – illiteracy in the region is as high as 23% – through agreements and strategic partnerships, by establishing the conditions for an all-round education, by strengthening cultural identities, and by involving the youngsters in local development.
