A New Technology Center in Peru

The Center for the Advancement of Women (CEPROM), a Kellogg Foundation grantee, opened a fifteenth Agrotechnology Center on February 20, 2004. Fourteen others are already supported by the Foundation.

Located in the department of Junín, in the province of Huancayo, Peru, the new center employs environmentally friendly technologies. The idea is for rural youngsters and their families from the Andean region to learn low-cost ecological farming techniques that will guarantee them food security and enough produce for local trade.

The center will serve nearly 80 communities. CEPROM also has plans to extend the service to Bolivia and Colombia.
