National Workshop Promotes State and Local Food Policy Councils

Drake University Agricultural Law Center, through a partnership agreement with the USDA Risk Management Agency and in collaboration with other state agencies, organizations, and individuals, is pleased to host the national workshop promoting state and local food policy councils and the second annual Iowa Food Policy Conference. 

The national workshop, held in conjunction with the second Iowa Food Policy Conference is a premi re educational event providing information and resources for individuals, private and non-profit organizations, and public sector officials interested in exploring the many exciting agriculture and policy initiatives developing throughout the United States.

The workshop on Sept. 4 focuses on the numerous innovative collaborations mitigating risk in agriculture through state and local Food Policy Councils. The Iowa Food Policy Conference Sept. 5 will address how institutional purchasing and community food assessment initiatives can strengthen local food systems.
