Visit the new online Guide to Community Supported Agriculture in Kentucky at www.theruralcenter.org. The Rural Center for Responsible Living has developed this online publication with special thanks to the Howe Charities for their generous grant support. Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is alive and growing in the state of Kentucky, representing a farm centered, relationship based marketing effort built out of trust, mutual respect and a quality product. Customers, often called shareholders, make a financial commitment to the farm for the duration of the growing season. In turn, the farmer provides a weekly supply of the farm’s products. Each farm sets up its supply in a unique manner, thus creating an ideal distribution system based out of a mutual agreement between farmer and customer, not bottom line prices and the desperate need to move a perishable product.
