National Conference of State Legislatures Offers Database on State Rural Legislation

The National Conference of State Legislatures has launched a web-based database on state rural legislation. The database is available from http://www.ncsl.org/standcomm/scag/stateruraldesc.htm.

The database includes proposed legislation on rural economic development, education, health, infrastructure, fiscal issues, land use, housing, safety and criminal justice, and agriculture as it relates to rural development. It also includes legislation related to state rural agencies and institutions. The database includes proposed legislation starting in February 2003, and may be searched based on bill number, status, or sponsor; as well as keyword, state or topic. The database will be updated quarterly.

The database is associated with NCSL’s Agriculture & Rural Development Committee (http://www.ncsl.org/standcomm/scag/scag.htm).
