MSDI Grantee Celebrates 25 Years of Community Service

March 2000 marked the 25th anniversary of the Quitman County Development Organization. Since 1976, the organization has provided resources to Quitman and neighboring counties. Among these resources are a free breakfast program in Quitman County public schools, a community mini-mall with a laundromat, a new and used clothing store, meeting space and a credit union. Most recently, through assistance from the Mid-South Delta Initiative (MSDI), the organization broadened its community reach through the creation of a business development program. The program is designed to help minority, women-owned and low-income business owners in Quitman, Tallahatchie and Panola County, start or enhance their current businesses. Through the program, community members have access to training, capital and technical assistance, as well as mentoring and networking opportunities.
