In this second quarter Economic Review article, Mark Drabenstott and Katharine H. Sheaff summarize the Center for the Study of Rural America’s third annual conference. “Consumer Confidence After September 11” is now on the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City’s Web site. In this second quarter Economic Review article, C. Alan Garner examines the impact of the terrorist attacks on consumer confidence. He finds the consumer confidence indexes kept a fairly normal relationship to other economic indicators and did not contain much new information for forecasters and policymakers about the economic outlook.
