Construction begins on Northeast Louisiana Delta Community Farmers’ Market

Northeast Louisiana Delta Community Development Corporation’s Farmers Market Project has begun construction on its Farmers’ Market facility. The market will provide a covered area for small growers to sell their products, sell fresh fruits and vegetables for community residents at reasonable prices, and offer opportunities for small growers to increase production and expand their markets. The Farmers’ Market is located in Tallulah’s commercial district as part of the downtown revitalization strategy.   In addition to the above, the market will also provide canning, packaging and preservation capabilities, which may lead to increased opportunities to expand into new markets. This market has also been selected by USDA to participate in the Women Infant and Children (WIC) program and the Senior Food Stamp Program. The market is expected to be opened no later than July 2002.
