Community Development Online Training Institute

The Southern New Hampshire University School of Community Economic Development (CED) is enrolling participants in the upcoming CDFI Online Institute that begins in September 2002. The Institute is a no cost, self-paced, three-course sequence that allows students 24-hour access.

The three courses offered will consist of exercises, case studies, and reading and writing assignments. The courses are:

How to Conduct a Market Analysis: This course is designed to enhance participants’ abilities to understand, locate and analyze secondary market data to determine potential market demand for DCFI products and services.

How to Prepare Financial Projections: This course was designed to follow “How to Conduct a Market Analysis” and will prepare CDFI managers with the tools to read and use financial statements including balance sheets, income statements and statements of cash flow.

How to Develop and Operate a Community Development Lending Program: This course will provide the participants with a clear understanding of the lending process – from intake to underwriting and approval to servicing and collections.

The Institute is ideal for entry- and mid-level staff of CDFIs, CDCUs, CDCs, loan funds and other nonprofits.

Support from the U.S. Treasury’s CDFI Fund allows us to offer this training free to qualifying organizations.
