Children’s Defense Fund recognizes WKKF as “Advocate for Joy”

The W.K. Kellogg Foundation (WKKF) was honored by the Children’s Defense Fund (CDF) as an Advocate for Joy during the 2025 National Celebration of Joy, CDF’s signature fundraising gala held Nov. 5 at The Schuyler Ballroom in Washington, D.C. 

Established in 2023 to mark CDF’s 50th anniversary, the National Celebration of Joy brings together changemakers, child advocates and supporters for an evening of inspiration, joy and purpose dedicated to lifting America’s children. Each year, CDF recognizes Advocates for Joy who champion policies, build community power and strengthen programs that improve the lives of children and youth. 

During this year’s celebration, CDF honored longtime partners and national leaders including the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. 

La June Montgomery Tabron, WKKF president and CEO, attended the event and accepted the award on behalf of the foundation. “Our children don’t just play make-believe. They make us believe in ourselves, in each other and in the better future they deserve,” Tabron said. “This award doesn’t just represent how our two organizations share a common mission and vision; it also reflects the optimism, dedication and joy we bring to this work—even and especially—in times of profound challenge.”
