Health Equity

Family health starts before birth

And we’re also striving for the city to be a place where mothers and birthing people receive culturally relevant care in their communities.

Our partners are:

  • Developing and maintaining Baby-Friendly hospitals.
  • Creating peer-led lactation support groups.
  • Advocating for breastfeeding-friendly workplaces.
  • Training health care providers for every stage of a woman’s childbirth journey, including doulas and midwives.
  • Creating innovative models so doulas are paid for their important work in assisting healthy births.
  • Supporting master’s level certifications for nurse midwives of color, as research shows that midwifery care is just as effective as OB-GYN care.
