Manager of Investment Operations based in Battle Creek, Michigan

In furtherance of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation’s (“WKKF”) mission, the investment office seeks to generate excellent long-term risk-adjusted returns. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Asset Allocation and Risk Management, the Manager of Investment Operations collaborates with the investment team to manage back-office processes and other administrative matters related to the opening, ongoing oversight, and termination of investments.

Education / Experience

• A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in finance, investment management, law, accounting, business, or economics.
• A minimum of three years of experience in endowment administration, trust or estate administration, pension administration, or related fields.
• Experience fostering collaborative relationships across diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
• Knowledge of financial products such as separately managed accounts, commingled funds, limited partnerships, investment agreements, private placement memorandums, and subscription documents related to investments in public equities, fixed income, hedge funds, and private equity partnerships.
• Relevant knowledge of investments, tax, legal, and operations to fulfill middle- and back-office tasks as needed.

Additional position specific information

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Lead the back office and administrative processes covering the full life cycle of an investment opportunity, including:
  • all custodian-related tasks
  • coordinate and track the legal due diligence and legal updates (addendums)
  • coordinate and trackside letter documentation, including MFN follow-up
  • coordinate and track operational due diligence
  • complete investment subscription documents
  • coordinate signatory and delegation documents, organizing, collecting, and storing the fully executed documents
  • maintain invested fund liquidity terms
  • set up and maintain investments in all relevant systems with full details on share classes and terms by investment tranche
  • Implement and manage the new account opening procedure, especially the AML/KYC work
  • Consult with the WKKF Financial Services team to assist in tax analysis work regarding the investment vehicle selection and annual audit work
  • Implement rebalancing, redemption, trade documentation, and other tasks related to movements between investments, including oversight of trade settlement, corporate actions, internal documentation, and custodian-related communication
  • Contribute to a cohesive team by building and providing trust, assuming positive intent, being intellectually curious, transparent about what is working and not working, respectfully candid, committed to team goals and direction, accountable to performance standards, and celebrating collective success
  • Take on special projects and duties as assigned
  • Coordinate with service providers (custodian bank, law firms, auditors, tax advisors, technology providers, etc.) regarding back-office tasks
