On Wed., Nov. 2 , from 5:00 to 6:30pm, Good Food BC and the W. K. Kellogg Foundation will host a special evening event with Dr. Oran Hesterman, president and CEO of Fair Food Network, author of FAIR FOOD and former co-leader of the Kellogg Foundation’s Integrated Farming Systems and Food and Society Programs.
A host of books and films in recent years have documented the dangers of our current food system, from chemical runoff to soaring rates of diet–related illness to inhumane treatment of workers and animals. But too often advice on what to do about it begins and ends with the admonition to “eat local” or “eat organic.”
Hesterman will discuss highlights from his book, FAIR FOOD, and how changing not only what we eat, but how food is grown, packaged, delivered and sold is critical for the health and well-being of our nation’s kids, families and communities.
