Participants in The Excellent Schools Detroit announce citywide education plan

Over the past several months the W.K. Kellogg Foundation partnered with and was involved in the planning efforts that included local foundations, nonprofits, government and community leaders to develop a plan to help ensure that Detroit children receive an excellent education.

 After three months of meetings The Excellent Schools Detroit coalition; which formed in late 2009 with hopes of utilizing the community’s sense of urgency to improve Detroit’s schools released a citywide education plan.

Together with the W.K. Kellogg Foundation the coalition includes ARISE Detroit, the City of Detroit, Detroit Edison Public School Academy, Detroit Parent Network, Detroit Public Schools, The Skillman Foundation, the Kresge Foundation, the McGregor Fund, Michigan Future, Inc., New Detroit, New Urban Learning and University Prep, Think Detroit PAL, and United Way for Southeastern Michigan.
