what we support
Our children are the world’s future, and they depend on families, communities and society at large to nurture and protect them, and to give them a platform for independence and success. But today, too many children grow up in a cycle of poverty that limits their access to adequate education, nutritious food, economic security and quality health care.
It’s essential that we stand up for these children and change the social dynamics that hold some of them back. We’re helping communities marshal their resources to assure that all children have an equitable and promising future.
whole child development
We support an integrated whole child approach. For us, this includes ensuring the emotional, social, cognitive, physical, cultural and civic development of young children, ages 0-8. Our work is carried out by partners and programs that help us achieve our organizational goals and embody our commitments to civic engagement and racial equity.
Increase the number of children who are reading and math proficient by third grade.
Increase the number of children born at a healthy birth weight and who receive the care and nutrition they need for optimal development.
Increase the number of children and families living at least 200% above the poverty level.
We view our mission and goals through the two approaches of civic engagement and racial equity and partner with those who embrace these ideals.
