William Winter Institute for Racial Reconciliation

At the University of Mississippi, the William Winter Institute for Racial Reconciliation is guiding communities toward a more diverse and inclusive future. Our $100,000 grant, together with funding from the John E. Fetzer Institute, helps to train multiracial teams in 15 communities statewide to employ a narrative model of community change. The approach preserves local stories and focuses community dialogue on how to move beyond the systemic legacies of racism. The Institute also will incorporate its work into a new statewide curriculum that requires all Mississippi public schools to teach the history of civil and human rights.
