We believe that people have the inherent capacity to solve their own problems and that social transformation is within the reach of all communities. We partner with those committed to inclusion, impact, and innovation in solving public problems. We seek engagement through dialogue, leadership development, collaboration, and new models of organizing. We amplify voices, and support the civic and philanthropic infrastructures that help propel vulnerable children and communities forward. By partnering with diverse communities, we support new solutions tailored to meet the needs of children and families who are most vulnerable.

our focus

In increasing and diversifying civic engagement by and for vulnerable children and our families, we are focused on three key objectives:

  • Catalyze civic engagement so that communities mobilize voices, resources and solutions to improve the lives of vulnerable children.
  • Accelerate emerging philanthropic partners, tools and possibilities, to increase community philanthropy and foster new models.
  • Invest to increase the effectiveness, collaboration and community responsiveness of philanthropic and nonprofit anchor institutions.

  • Build public will for civic engagement, at a time when social, economic, political and generational factors are converging to create a “perfect storm” for civic participation, philanthropic innovation, and the interaction of the two.
  • Invest in new pipelines of leadership.
