The Kellogg Foundation began investing in the countries of southern Africa (including Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Swaziland and Zimbabwe) in the mid-1980s. Investments have focused on scholarships, leadership and talent development, childhood education and sustainable economic development.

More recently, we have narrowed our efforts in southern Africa. Currently, we support scholarships, which are awarded based on scholastic achievement, and bursaries, which are based on financial need. In addition, we have made mission-driven investments supporting racial equity and job creation and retention in core industries and midsize agro-enterprises.

Our work in southern Africa is managed and evaluated by a U.S.-based International team.

At this time, the Kellogg Foundation does not accept unsolicited grant proposals for its work in Africa.
