The Alliance for Community Healing (ACH) will be an inter community network of service and advocacy partners for families and children of the San Francisco Bay Area public housing projects slated for redevelopment. Located on prime real estate, public housing communities in the San Francisco Bay Area are being assaulted on all fronts. From within, families stagger under the dual tyranny of gun violence and the violence of poverty. From the outside, these neighborhoods have already been battered by failed policies and years of public neglect – yet now face the greater threat of redevelopment efforts which present the grave risk of displacement and homelessness among this vulnerable population of families and children.

Comprised of local, minority-led anchor organizations serving this community, ACH funding will generate multi-level benefits. For low resourced communities, it establishes a collective voice that can articulate a singular change agenda to redevelopment agency and other public officials. For executives and community leaders, it creates an on-going learning community that will give its members opportunity to share development insights and strategies; acquire needed skills and build new competencies. For individuals and the organizations that they represent, funding will facilitate the creation of a safe space to engage in reflection and renewal and gives each Alliance member the ability to affect community building, healing, and reconciliation within their designated neighborhoods.
