The American Friends Service Committee, a faith-based organization established by the Quakers, will facilitate The Racial Equity through Human Rights Education project to support a group of primarily Black children as they explore racial equity through a human rights lens. The groups will then develop a Human Rights Education curriculum to facilitate dialogues about race in their communities.
In order to promote racial healing through structured workshop and dialogues, youth will learn to: identify and advocate against discriminatory policies and practices; develop a curriculum to disseminate among a network of religious, educational and civic organizations; and to facilitate monthly dialogues among a multi-generational cadre of community members able to track and address racial injustices. The project belief is that in order to have successful communities, citizens of all ages must be aware of and conversant with human rights and able and willing to stand up to protect those rights for themselves and others.
