This project is an extension of the American Muslim Voice (AMW) “From Fear to Friendship” pilot – a program that successfully proved the viability of racial healing methods in the post 9/11 backlash against American Muslims and those who resemble them.
In response to the many organizations that have approached AMV for help implementing such programs of their own, the Miracle Movement of Peace and Friendship project will host training, organization, and demonstrations of racial healing in participating communities – through everyday activities that encourage the bonds of personal friendship with one another. By focusing on similarities in the struggles of people from various racial, ethnic, or religious backgrounds, the project highlights the importance of solidarity inspired by simple social gatherings that bridge gaps between communities – such as a cross-cultural dinner party. Ultimately, the project will teach others how to replicate simple yet effective strategies that catalyze racial healing in diverse communities.
