Though subject to U.S. government regulations, American Indian territories still maintain all the basic elements of nationhood: language, religion, culture, ethnicity, and territory. Despite these elements, the Indian nationhood remains subject to detrimental and extraordinarily adverse influences from social, psychological, financial, and circumstantial political and legal forces.
The Indian Nationhood project intends to appeal to psychological and sociological values manifested in Indian history; draw on the genetic coding and established psychology of Indian people; and to translate these powers into modern, articulated concepts of self-governance. The project will seek to address and resolve these challenges with practical, “Indian”-oriented solutions, encouraging actions which will contribute to the enduring health and well-being of Indian people.
