Poll Response: Gerardo Reyes-Chavez, Coalition of Immokalee Workers

Gerardo Reyes-Chavez, farmworker and staff member with the Coalition of Immokalee Workers, talks about a new nationwide poll that surveyed views on fresh produce access and equity and was commissioned by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. Gerardo shares how the poll’s findings that people are willing to pay more for produce if it guarantees workers harvesting the produce were paid fairly gets to the heart of his organization’s work.

The nationwide public opinion poll of 800 adults explored the topics of increasing access to fresh fruits and vegetables, support for doubling SNAP benefits at farmers markets and fair wages for farm workers. Full poll results can be found at http://www.foodandcommunity.org/conference.
