Poll Response: Oran Hesterman, Fair Food Network

Oran Hesterman, president and CEO of the Fair Food Network, shares how a nationwide poll commissioned by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation is important and supportive to the efforts of his organization and others that are working to boost both local farm economies and increase access to fresh food for low-income families. The poll shows 75% of people support a national program, like the Double Up Food Bucks program in Michigan, to double the value of SNAP benefits at local farmers markets.

The nationwide public opinion poll of 800 adults explored the topics of increasing access to fresh fruits and vegetables, support for doubling SNAP benefits at farmers markets and fair wages for farm workers. Full poll results can be found at http://www.foodandcommunity.org/conference.
