NBC News' Education Nation Detroit continued Saturday with two engaging town halls focused on students and teachers, respectively. WKKF is proud to be supporting Education Nation Detroit - bringing community leaders, educators and students together in our home state of Michigan. Education Nation Detroit is the first of three "On-the-Road" events and took place at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.

The Detroit Free Press highlighted the conversations held during both town halls on Saturday. Students raised a number of issues, ranging from bullying to class size, creating an honest dialogue about their experiences in Michigan schools. Throughout the event, students were polled on a number of issues. According to the Free Press, 84 percent "said a good education was very important to them," 47 percent "said connecting learning with real-life experiences improves education;" and 31 percent had "considered dropping out of school."
