Biography:
Nikki Henderson is the Executive Director of People's Grocery in Oakland, CA, a nonprofit working to improve the well-being and economy of West Oakland by building a healthy and just local food system. Raised with seven foster brothers in Los Angeles, Nikki developed a passion for youth leadership development and became Director of Foster Youth Empowerment Workshops. She later worked at Green for All, with Slow Food USA, and co-founded Live Real, a national collaborative of food movement organizations in 2009. In 2010, Nikki was featured in ELLE magazine as one of the five Gold Awardees. She has a Master's degree in African American Studies from UCLA, and is originally from Los Angeles, CA.
