Sharpening The Tools

This section highlights how ten communities put partnership building tools to work.

What follows are brief observations and comments from the ten communities. At different times they all have used different tools to build partnerships. In their communities they picked up the tools and sharpened them, providing insight on how to better use them.

Introduction

The wealth of information in this tool kit comes from an enormous amount of effort and experience. It is guided by a far-reaching vision and based on many projects in several communities: Detroit, Michigan; Crossville, Tennessee; Gaithersburg, Maryland; Cleveland, Ohio; Kalamazoo, Michigan; Rochester, New York; and the Saginaw Chippewa Reservation in Saginaw, Michigan. The experiences in these ten diverse communities show how the principles presented in this tool kit have worked.
